Michael Devaney

18 May 2016

Dear CUFC Members

It is with great sadness that the club advises of the recent passing of one of our appreciated and dedicated members, Michael Devaney.

Michael was a committed coach of our under 9 Jaguars this season and the club would like to express its deepest condolences and thoughts for Michael’s family and his team.

Michael’s efforts and contributions to the club will not be forgotten by us all here at CUFC.

As a mark of respect and appreciation, the club has requested from the federation, a minutes silence to be expressed during all junior and senior competitive matches this weekend, as well as all CUFC junior and senior competitive players to display black arm bands whilst playing to again show our thanks to Michael and his contribution to the club.

Again our thoughts and best wishes are with Michael’s family during this difficult time.

Yours Sincerely

Tony McCarthy
President

What’s app Wombats?

cooroora united appCooroora United Football Club is raring to go this season.

Their sign-on days take place at Cooroy Library on Saturdays 30th January and 5 February from 9.00-11.30am and the club would love to welcome more players in all age groups.

But the question for all Wombats supporters is whether you’ve downloaded your Cooroora United app yet?

You can download it by searching for Cooroora United in the Apple App store or Google Play or click here – it’s free to download and will keep you updated with all that’s going on with the club.

On it you’ll find all the club contact details, events, directions to all other clubs on the coast, wet weather notifications and you can use it to send us pictures for the Wombats Wall of Fame.

As the club gets ready to kick off for 2016, they also got some great news in the form of one of their most loyal sponsors.

The Cooroy Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank will be supporting Cooroora United again this season and club treasurer, Emma Wright was on hand to celebrate the presentation of a $2,500 cheque this week. Emma said that while that last season’s cheque helped produce the club app and this year, proceeds will renew the Community Bank’s sponsorship of the club for the eighth year.

“We’ve really appreciated the sponsorship from the Cooroy Community Bank branch for a number of years and their commitment to us so early in the year allows us to plan for projects that will see the club continuing to offer such great facilities for all lovers of our game,” she said.

Geoff said the Cooroora United sponsorship continues to be a great fit for both parties.

“I think everyone knows of the wonderful club here at Cooroora United and we’re really happy to be on board again this season. I’m really looking forward to cheering the teams on at a home game in the cooler months ahead and we hope this sponsorship helps the club score some more goals in 2016.” Geoff said.

Anyone looking to become involved with Cooroora United can also get in touch by contacting the club through the Cooroora United app or any of the numbers on its website.
